Explosive Detection Dog Teams

When safety matters, you need a team you can trust one that understands how to work quietly, efficiently, and with purpose.
At K9 Bellator Pty Ltd, we provide reliable explosive detection dog teams trained to operate in real-world environments across Australia.

Our goal is simple: to help you create a safer space, whether that’s for a large event, a critical site, or day-to-day operations.

What we do

Our dogs are trained to detect a wide range of commercial, military, and homemade explosives.

Each team is carefully selected and developed for professionalism, focus, and calm handling under pressure.

We support a variety of operations, including:

  • Event and venue sweeps

  • Stadiums, arenas, and entertainment facilities

  • Freight and transport infrastructure

  • Corporate and public buildings

  • Private sector and high-profile environments

Or even providing a calm, visible presence as a deterrent during higher-risk operations or events

Every site is different, so we tailor our approach to your needs — from pre-event checks to ongoing screening programs.

How it works

Before every deployment, we’re briefed by the client on the specific areas to be searched and any operational requirements. This ensures our approach is clear, coordinated, and aligned with your safety objectives.

Once on site, our handler and dog team work systematically through the designated areas, maintaining steady communication and a calm, professional presence throughout the search.

Depending on the scope of the job, this may include venue sweeps, luggage screening for items entering buildings, hotel rooms, vehicle checks, or pallet and freight inspections.

Our dogs are trained to operate confidently across a wide range of search environments, allowing us to adapt quickly and effectively to each unique location.

In some cases, we also provide a visible presence at entry points or high-traffic areas as a proactive deterrent, reinforcing the overall sense of security on site.

Following each deployment, we provide concise and transparent feedback, along with any recommendations that may support future operations or risk management.

Explosive compounds our dogs are trained to detect

Our teams train and operate on real explosive odours and supplementary scent sources to ensure reliable performance in the field.
Some of the odours but not all listed, that our dogs are trained on include:

  • TNT

  • RDX

  • PETN (powder / gel)

  • TATP (triacetone triperoxide)

  • HMTD (hexamethylene triperoxide diamine)

  • Dynamite / Gelignite (nitroglycerin-based powder gel)

  • Ammonium-nitrate based compounds and improvised blends

  • Black powder and smokeless powders

We also use Getxent® impregnated tubes from accredited suppliers to broaden odour exposure while maintaining strict contamination and handling controls.

Training odours and handling are managed by authorised personnel in line with Australian regulations and our internal safety procedures. We do not provide information on the manufacture or modification of explosive materials.

Meet the K9's

Our dogs are the heart of what we do.

Each one has their own story, specialty, and quirks that make them an important part of our organisation and truthfully, they’re the reason we do what we do.

Every K9 is developed with care, consistency, and purpose, building the confidence and reliability needed to work in complex environments.

If you’d like to see the dogs that make all this possible, take a look at their profiles, you’ll find their background, experience, work history, strengths and weaknesses, and even a few funny stories.
