5-Day Detection Dog Intensive

Program Overview

Sometimes the dog becomes stuck. Sometimes the handler becomes stuck. Sometimes people have trained a really nice dog but aren't sure where to go next. This course is designed to help people work through those hurdles. Over five days we'll revisit the foundations of detection training, discuss common training hurdles, work a variety of dogs, train in different environments, and look at practical ways to continue progressing your training. Our objectives for the week are to: • Refresh the foundations of detection dog training • Work through common training hurdles and problem-solving strategies • Improve handling, search skills, and environmental exposure • Gain experience working different dogs and training scenarios • Develop a clear plan, goals, and next steps for your training • Build a record-keeping system that helps you stay on track It's easy to leave a course or training day feeling motivated.
